The chapel conversion is in Gorey Village, Jersey, and is a former Methodist Chapel that was long disused. It is located in a quiet coastal village street in an outlying parish of Jersey.
The interior has been sectioned off into smaller spaces with a covered ceiling at eaves’ level. This was completely stripped out leaving only the trusses and roof in position.
We then built a four bedroom house in about two thirds of the building leaving a full height atrium at one end. This rises to fourteen metres at its apex.
The house within a church is a highly insulated eco-friendly high specification dwelling.
The budget had to be below a £1,000,000 build cost as this was the client cash limit. It was commissioned by a builder/developer. It has sold within a month of being completed.
Planning approval was gained on 1st April 2008, with the whole project completed in October 2009.
